WFM Pratitee Bordoloi delivered a sensational performance at the FIDE World Youth Chess Championship 2026, winning the Silver Medal in the Girls U-18 category held in Montesilvano, Italy. At just 13 years of age, Pratitee became the only Indian player to win a medal at the championship and also secured her first WIM norm.

Entering the event as the 16th seed, Pratitee remained undefeated, scoring an outstanding 9/11 with 7 wins and 4 draws, gaining 129 Elo rating points and registering an impressive performance rating of around 2350. She competed against players up to five years older and showcased remarkable maturity, determination, and fighting spirit throughout the tournament.

Her historic achievement is a testament to India’s growing strength in world chess and an inspiration to young players across the country.
