The Karnataka State Under-17 Open & Girls FIDE Rated Chess Championship 2026 concluded successfully in Shivamogga after three days of exciting and competitive chess, bringing together the state’s finest young talents.
The championship witnessed outstanding performances from players across Karnataka, with the following emerging as champions:
🏆 Under-17 Open Champion: Ishaan Bhansali – 8/9
🥈 Under-17 Open Runner-up: Yuvanesh A – 8/9
🏆 Under-17 Girls Champion: Arushi Severin Helen D Silva – 8/9
🥈 Under-17 Girls Runner-up: Aradhya S. Shetty – 7/9
The top two finishers in both the Open and Girls categories have earned the honour of representing Karnataka at the forthcoming National Under-17 Open & Girls Chess Championship.
The prize distribution ceremony was graced by Shri D. S. Arun, Hon’ble MLC, Shivamogga, as the Chief Guest. The Guests of Honour included Shri Sachin P. S., Joint Secretary, KSCA, Shri Suresh Babu, Joint Secretary, KSCA, and Shri Chiranth M. D., Founder, LikeChess Academy. The dignitaries congratulated the winners and appreciated the efforts of the organizers, arbiters, coaches, parents, and volunteers for making the championship a grand success.
Conducted under the aegis of the Karnataka State Chess Association (KSCA) in accordance with AICF regulations, the championship was efficiently organized over nine rounds, ensuring fair play and high competitive standards.
