Apoorv Kamble & Drishtee Ghosh are State U-15 Champions.

The Karnataka State U15 Open and Girls FIDE Rated Chess Championship 2023, hosted by Gulbarga District Chess Association® and Promod’s Chess Academy®, concluded in a whirlwind of strategic brilliance from July 11th to 13th.

The distinguished prize distribution ceremony was graced by Mr. M Rachappa, KAS, MD, NEKRTC, Kalburagi; Jagannath Sannur, High Court Advocate, Kalburagi; Santosh Totnalli, Event Coordinator; and Mr. Pramodraj More, President GDCA.

In a remarkable show of skill, Apoorv Kamble dominated the Open section with an undefeated run, claiming the championship title before the final round. Aarush Rajesh secured second place with 7.5 points, followed closely by Siddhanth Poonja and Bhuvan Krishna at 7 points each, securing 3rd and 4th places.

The Girls’ section witnessed Drishtee Ghosh as the victor, triumphing with an impressive score of 7.5. Disha U A, Pratitee Bordoloi, and Shefali A N demonstrated fierce competition, each garnering 7 points. After a nail-biting tiebreak, Disha U A secured 2nd place, Pratitee Bordoloi clinched 3rd, and Shefali A N secured 4th.

The championship awarded a total prize fund of Rs. 44,000/- to the top 15 winners and recognized excellence in the Under 7, 9, 11, and 13 age categories. Special accolades were presented to Gulbarga players, spotlighting local talent.
