Siddhanth Poonja & Pratitee shine at Almaty, Kazhakhsthan

India is off to a great start at 26th Asian Youth Chess Championships 2024 at Almaty, Kazhakhsthan. In the Rapid event, Karnataka kids won Gold and Silver in Rapid events. Pratitee Bordoloi scored 6.5/7, remained undefeated and claimed the Gold medal convincingly. Siddhanth Poonja scored 6/7 to secure the Silver medal in Under-12 Open.

Siddhanth Poonja (1886) defeated Nguyen Le Nguyen (VIE, 1816) in the final round to secure the Silver medal. Suleyman Akhmet (KAZ, 2027) won the Gold scoring sole 6.5/7.

Another talented player Borodoloi wins Gold in U-12 Girls category at the Asian Youth Rapid tournament held at Almaty, Kazhakhsthan

Pratitee Bordoloi (1587) was the sole leader going into the final round. She defeated WCM Minh Chi Nguyen (VIE, 1893) to clinch the Gold and finish a half point ahead of the rest.
