Venue: Dasprakash Hotel, Mysore Dates: April 24 – 26, 2026

The Karnataka State Under 13 Open and Girls Chess Championship 2026 concluded successfully at Dasprakash Hotel, Mysore, with an impressive participation of 394 players from 17 districts across the state. The event showcased the growing enthusiasm for chess in Karnataka, with 260 players competing in the Open category and 134 players in the Girls category.

The prize distribution ceremony was graced by distinguished guests Nagendra Muralidhar, Organizer & Founder, Mysore Chess Centre, Dr. Venugopal, President, New Mysore District Chess Association and Kavana M, Former State Chess Champion

🏆 Championship Results

Open Section:

  • Champion: Aadya Gowda (Bengaluru, 1858 rating) – 8 points from 9 rounds
  • Runner-up: Ishaan Bhansali (Bengaluru, 1900 rating) – 7.5 points from 9 rounds

Notably, Aadya Gowda, a female player, chose to compete in the Open category against boys despite having a separate Girls section, and emerged as the overall champion – a remarkable achievement that highlights her talent and determination.

Girls Section:

  • Champion: Shreya Rajesh (Bengaluru Urban, 1844 rating) – 7.5 points from 9 rounds
  • Runner-up: Indusheetala (Bengaluru Urban, 1707 rating) – 7.5 points from 9 rounds

Both players tied with equal points, but Shreya Rajesh secured the championship through the tie-break system.

The champions and runners-up from both categories will represent Karnataka at the National Under 13 Chess Championship 2026, scheduled to be held in Pondichéry in September 2026.

The event was a resounding success, celebrating the spirit of competition and the rising stars of Karnataka chess.
