Third seeded Manasa K. of Mangalore won the state women chess championship by beating Priyadarshini M. of Bangalore at State Youth Center organized by Bangalore District Chess Association. Top seeded Shruthi K.of Shimoga was placed second in tie break, but both scored 5 out of 6 points. The upset of the day was created by Priyanka S. of Bangalore when she drew with Manasa in 5 th round and beat second seeded Shrishti J.Shetty of Shimoga in the sixth round. She was placed 3 rd with 4.5 Points out of 6 rounds. The sixth standard student Shalon Joanne Pais of Mangalore was placed 4 th with 4 points out of 6 rounds. These 4 will be eligible for playing in National B Women Chess Championship to be held at Calicut starting from 6 th June 2008 .
